Lexington, Kentucky - The North Carolina State Championship Horse Show, scheduled for Wednesday, September 15 through Saturday, September 18, is set to host the American Saddlebred Horse Association’s (ASHA) Region 9 Atlantic Coast Regional Championship for the first time in 2010.

Region 9 consists of the states of North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Regional Championships are a part of ASHA's ongoing effort to improve public education about the breed as well as to increase competitive opportunities for all levels throughout the nation.

All horses placing 1st through 8th at three or more competitions within a region are automatically qualified to contend for Regional Championship honors. Horses may qualify in more than one region, but can earn only one Regional Championship title each year. If a horse competes in a Regional Championship class and does not win the Regional Championship title, it may compete for a Regional Championship title at other Regional Championship competitions for which it is eligible. Neither residency nor declaration of region is required.

The North Carolina State Championship Horse Show wants exhibitors to know that even more Regional Championship classes are being offered than those listed in the prize list. The complete list of Regional Championship classes is as follows:
