Villa Opens New England Stable

Well-known trainer Nicholas Villa, along with Sharon Ellingwood, has announced the opening of the Nicholas Villa Stable in Clarks Falls, Conn. Located 10 minutes from the beaches in Rhode Island and 10 minutes from the casinos in Connecticut, the facility sits on 120 acres of what is a pre-Revolutionary War era farm. Completely renovated, the barn currently has 15 stalls with expansion in progress. There is a 200 x 300 outdoor arena and plenty of paddocks and pasture.

Villa, a longtime assistant to John Biggins and later the trainer at Ruxer Farms, most recently trained with Todd Mathieson in Connecticut. He specializes in the making of young horses as well as having a string of amateur and juvenile riders. Also with great experience, Ellingwood will direct an academy riding program, working with beginning children and adults.
