UPHA Young Horse Preview Well Received

Louisville, Ky. - A good crowd was on hand at Rock Creek Riding Club on Thursday night, January 18, to experience the first annual Young Horse Preview put on by the UPHA’s Young Trainers Committee. This energetic group recruited an outstanding collection of young Saddlebred show horses and prospects that are available for sale. There were even two nice road ponies. All the horses/ponies were either ridden, driven, or long-lined. Popular horse show announcer, Peter Fenton, served as master of ceremonies and added knowledgeable comments as each horse worked for the crowd’s attention.

Rock Creek’s indoor arena was the setting for the UPHA Young Horse Preview

This was not an actual sale or auction, but the event allowed prospective buyers to see horses four years and under that ranged from current reserve world’s champions, a current Sweepstakes champion, to those ready to show for the first time this year. Any transactions that might take place are private sales.  The Preview was intended to help stimulate interest in and sales of young show horses.

The timing of the event was ideal, with a large number of people arriving in the area to participate in the weekend’s All American Cup Stallion Preview and Auction. At the conclusion of the evening, several trainers were pleased to have arranged additional viewings at their farms. People were still talking favorably about the Preview days later during the All American Cup activities.
