UPHA Convention To Be Held In Tampa



The UPHA National Convention will be held January 8-11 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Tampa, Fla. Reservations for the hotel are due immediately and can be made by calling (813)977-7066. The rate is $117 for single/double occupancy or $127 for triple/quad occupancy. The rate includes full breakfast in the room, and a manager’s reception in the afternoon. You must specify you are with the United Professional Horseman’s Association.

On Wednesday the 8th the UPHA Board of Directors will meet. On Thursday all pre-registered attendees will receive a free admission to Busch Gardens courtesy of the Wheeler family. Also that morning a UPHA golf outing is available. From 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. the UPHA Equitation Executive Meeting for committee members only will be held and at six that evening buses will be boarded for the Casino Gambling Boat excursion.

Friday will feature a full day of meetings beginning with the UPHA Active and Associate meetings at 9:00 a.m. At the 10:00 a.m. general membership meeting there will be a discussion of “Conformation Judging in Performance Classes For Horses and Ponies.” A Drugs and Medication Forum will take place at 1:00 p.m. In the afternoon there will be forums for Hackney Rule Changes and for Equitation, followed by dinner, awards and an auction that night.

Saturday morning will start with a general membership meeting to go over the forums that were already held. At noon there will be luncheons for the Morgan Membership as well as the American Hackney Horse Society. The afternoon will feature an associate membership meeting. The annual convention will wrap up that evening with dinner, awards and entertainment by impressionist Chad Graham.
