The United States of Trophies Exhibit

The American Saddlebred Museum presents its next exhibition: The United States of Trophies: American Saddlebred Trophies and Their Stories from Across the Fifty States.

The exhibit features American Saddlebred trophies from the Museum’s collection as well as many loans from across the country. Trophies range in date from the 1920s to present day. Additionally, a selection of trophy presentation photographs showcase a variety of horse shows, classes, horses, and individuals that are involved with presenting and winning awards.

Museum Executive Director, Jennifer Foster says “We are pleased with the great variety of trophies from across the nation. Each one is unique, from a California Futurity belt buckle won in Nevada in 2013 to a dazzling tea service from the Chicago International Horse Show in the late 1950s. Thanks to the many people who assisted in locating items used in the exhibition.”

The exhibit shows the variety of trophy styles, from traditional loving cups to more unusual shapes. Also, it demonstrates that the American Saddlebred horse show is popular across the country, with each object and region telling a unique story.

To celebrate the exhibition, the museum held an opening reception on Thursday, February 16. Guests enjoyed a bourbon tasting from Bardstown Bourbon as well as conversations with friends.
