SHELBY COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - In Shelby County, 10 show ponies died early on Monday morning in a barn fire.
The barn, on Ash Avenue, is a total loss. Officials don't yet know the cause of the fire, but say there may have been lightning in the area.
The owner of the barn, R.C. Shelburne, said he had 10 show ponies in the barn that didn't make it out of the fire.
“The flames shooting in the air looked like 50 to 100 feet high and it was already beginning to fall in,” said Shelburne.
A Louisville TV station reports that Shelburne also had lots of expensive tools and antique farm equipment destroyed.
