Pin Oak Charity News and Dates



The 64th Annual Pin Oak Charity Horse Show will be held March 18-22, 2009 at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in the Houston suburb of Katy, Texas. A Horse Show with great tradition and a reputation for helping those in need, once again this year’s proceeds will go to benefit the Ronald McDonald House and the Texas Children’s Hospital.

Top equestrians from the Southwest and beyond will compete in the BBVA Compass, Ring of Honor showcasing their skills while supporting two great charitable institutions.

Join us ringside at your reserved table for a wonderful catered dinner while enjoying the very best of equestrian competition. American Saddlebreds will be joined by beautiful Andalusian Horses and new this year the United Mountain Horses along with World Class Jumpers for a $30,000 Saturday night finale in the Grand Prix.

The American Saddlebred division will offer a $5000 Five Gaited Championship, a $3000 Three Gaited Championship, and a $1500 Fine Harness Championship. In addition to $1000 Roadster and Park Horse Championships. The Amateur riders will shine in our spotlight as they compete for $1000 in many of their Championship events. The UPHA Classics offering $500 in added premiums will feature the areas top young horses in the Five Gaited, Three Gaited, Fine Harness and Park Pleasure divisions.

Grand National money will be available in two of our Championship classes, the Amateur Five Gaited and the Park Pleasure entries will split the $3600 offered in Grand National prize money.

The popular Pink Ribbon class has been added for the 2009 show. Our Five-Gaited Lady riders will "Ride for the Cure" in support of the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Research.

An all star line up is in place to be sure that Pin Oak remains one of the places to show on the Southwest Circuit. The Breed division will be managed by Peter T. Fenton of Pleasureville, Kentucky. Judging this year’s event will be Lynn Harvey McNamara, Wethersfield CT; she will be joined by new additions to Fenton’s staff including Secretary Beth Snider and veteran Ringmaster Bill Whitley.
