Passing of Hope Gates

Hope Chandler Gates, formerly of Akron, Ohio, passed away February 17, 2006 at the Cleveland Clinic in Naples, Florida after a lengthy battle with emphysema.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, David Gates; daughters, Julianna Gates and Sally Johnson, grandchildren, Andrew and Luke Lucieer, David Elliot, Jr. and Laurlee Pittman; great-grandson, Caius Pittman.
Hope was a graduate of Old Trail School, Stephens College and Cleveland School of Art.
Hope's two great loves were the Old Trail School and American Saddlebred horses. She spent 21 years as a faculty member of OTS. She was a prominent member of the American Saddlebred Horse Association and for 25 years showed her horses locally and nationally.
Remembrances may be made to the Old Trail School in Bath, Ohio.
