Obituary - Nancy Roberts

Nancy B. Roberts, 58, of Rye, N.H. passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Roberts was born March 18, 1956, the only child of the late Clyde and Elisabeth Roberts of Rollinsford, N.H. She was a graduate of Berwick Academy and Bates College and a longtime resident of Rye.

Roberts was well-known in the seacoast area as a talented musician. She was the music director and organist at York-Ogunquit United Methodist Church for many years, taught piano to hundreds of young students, and was much in demand as an accompanist at horse shows around the country. Her music was enjoyed by trainers, exhibitors and spectators at such shows as New England Morgan, Deerfield Fair, Octoberfest, Greater Boston, Cheshire Fair and Maine Saddlebred.

Besides music, Roberts loved her Siamese cats and was an active member of Siamese Rescue of New Hampshire.

She is survived by several cousins in the local area, including Stephen Roberts of Rollinsford, Susan Roberts Inoue of Kennebunkport, Debbie Tasker of Dover, and Alma and Janice Henderson of York; cousin Aline Houston of Wheaton, Illinois; and by many close friends who provided loving care and support during her illness, including dear friends Jane Langmaid, Cyndi Seavey, Mary Pelletier, Barbara Kohl and Judy Haszard, and her neighbors Kathy and Ed Hajjar.

A memorial service was held on Sunday, February 1, 2015, at the York-Ogunquit United Methodist Church. Burial will take place in the spring in New Town Cemetery in Rollinsford. Memorial contributions may be made to Siamese Rescue of New Hampshire.
