Margaret was the wife of the late Miles Benedict. Miles and Margaret bred and exhibited road horses many years ago and were great supporters of the CRHA. Two horses of special note were the offspring of Glen Downey's Simcoe Duke, namely Flaxen Duke and Winnie's Guy (Autobahn). Flaxen Duke, driven by Glen, was the 1986 Canadian Wagon Champion and enjoyed many show ring successes over the subsequent years with the Thomas/Austin family. Winnie's Guy, subsequently shown by Don and Joanne Heath and then by American interests and renamed Autobahn, was shown to numerous World Championships in Louisville as well as the Wagon Championship at the 1993 Royal Winter Fair.
