Obituary – William Dedman



William M. “Will” Dedman, former owner of such world’s champions as CH Unattached and CH Olympic Flame, passed away Friday, September 14 at his home in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Dedman was also the longtime manager of the Mercer County Fair Horse Show. His family, including children Milward and Marie, were active participants in the show horse industry.

Dedman was born January 19, 1942 to the late Charles M. and Anne Hart (Milward) Dedman. He was a member of the St. Philips Episcopal Church, a former member of the Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club of Harrodsburg and had served on the Mercer County Fair Board and the Haggin Hospital Board.

Preceded in death by his wife Ann Harriet Freedman Dedman, Dedman was survived by daughter Marie (David) Rudder of Lexington; Milward (Kathy) Dedman of Harrodsburg; three grandchildren, Ward Dedman, Cawood (Josh) Carey, and Alex Rudder; and special caregivers Loretta Claunch, Stephanie Sizemore, Diane Carey and Melissa Mattingly.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 18 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Philips Episcopal Church. Burial will follow at the Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg. Visitation will take place at St. Philips on Tuesday, beginning at noon.
