Mrs. Alice Lyda Passes



Mrs. Alice Lyda, age 101, of Monroe, NC died Saturday (June 30, 2007) at her residence.

A local funeral service will be conducted at 4:00 PM Tuesday (July 3, 2007) at Weddington United Methodist Church, officiated by Reverend John Love.  A funeral service will also be conducted at 4:00 PM Thursday (July 5, 2007) at Hutton and McElwain Funeral Home in Macon, Missouri, officiated by Reverend Ed Briggs. Interment will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Atlanta, Missouri.

Mrs. Lyda was born on September 2, 1905, in Atlanta, Missouri, a daughter of the late Phillip Nuhn and Elzora Sunderland Nuhn.  She was a homemaker.
She had a sharp eye for a horse and at the age of 101, was able to come to horse shows last year. She and her family have owned top show horses over the years and currently own CH Yes, It's True.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Lyda on July 17, 1999.

Survivors include her daughter, Kathleen Berger and husband, Roy, of Monroe; three grandchildren, Reid Olson and wife, Kristin, of Louisville, Kentucky, Clayton Ross Berger of Monroe, Morgan Raimey Berger of Monroe; one great-grandchild, Noah Reid Olson of Louisville, Kentucky.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the home of Roy and Kathy Berger, 1428 Medlin Road, Monroe, NC.
