Mid-America Horse Show Association Banquet Went Wild

by Katherine Hansil

OAK BROOK, Ill. - The Mid-America Horse Show Association awards banquet was held Feb. 2, 2008, at the Oak Brook, Ill., Marriott. The banquet is famous for its themes and entertainment, and this year everyone was encouraged to participate in the Wild West theme. The association is one of the largest charter clubs of the ASHA with over 400 members. Yearly it produces three horse shows and oversees a regional circuit of 35 A and B rated shows. It is at these shows that members earn points towards the year-end awards that were presented at the banquet.

During the first hour members gathered for cocktails and purchase raffle tickets for the awesome baskets that were donated by area stables and members. During dinner a year-end video was presented with pictures provided by Brendan Heintz of Saddle & Bridle. After dinner the UPHA Chapter 10 awards were given out. Before the long list of Mid-America awards were presented, a trio of cowboys livened things up a bit with their tricks and comedy. After the awards were done, Ray Krussell was handed the microphone. The raffle tickets were drawn and the baskets carried home by the winners. The live auction took center stage next with the help of famed announcer and auctioneer Bill Carrington. Afterwards the music took over the room and everyone enjoyed a great night of dancing and catching up as their show season is getting ready to begin again with the Mid-America Spring Horse in Roscoe, Ill., March 28-30, 2008.

Tom and Kristen Pettry were dressed for the party

in their western attire. Kristen was banquet co-chairman

with Dale Arnston for the evening’s great event.

Pat and Tom Bombolis and Glenn A. and Glenn T. Werry

made the trip in along with the rest of the

Glenmore gang for the evening.

Mark Utoft and Toni Knight were on hand

representing Deborah Jahn’s Seven Oaks.

The Landmark Farm group had a great time celebrating

their 2007 season and making plans for 2008.

Wendy Carney and Ray Krussell had a busy
evening with
Krussell handling the duties during
the raffle and auction.

Pam Slater, Toni Nastali and Connie MacQueen

took time to catch up on things during the dance.

Jeanette and Lynn Durant came ready for the

Wild West in their western themed attire.

Brittany and Ashley Baird, Megan Thibo and Megan Posch

were dressed to the nines for the evening.

Brendan Heintz was joined by his sisters,

Katie Miller, Maureen Katoll and Ann Bowie.

Heintz provided the photos for the year-end video.

Scott and Carol Matton celebrated a successful 2007,

training several of the award winners for the evening.

Ashley Hartwig and McKenna Slater looked

gorgeous as they danced the night away.
