Sherman, Ill. - John R. Howard, 67, of Sherman died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at St. John's Hospice.
He was born May 18, 1938, in Decatur, the son of Glen and Catherine Williamson Howard. He married Linda Lauck in 1959.
Mr. Howard was a restaurant owner, professional horse trainer and real estate developer. He was past president of the Central Chapter of the Illinois Restaurant Association, board member of the Midwest Charity Horse Show, board member and past president of Jubilee Morgan Horse Show, regional director of the American Morgan Horse Association, chairman of the Grand National Morgan Horse Show in Oklahoma City and a member of the United States Trotting Association.
Survivors: wife, Linda; three sons, Eric Scott (wife, Patty) Howard of Sherman, Curtis Anthony Howard (fiancée, Kim Bateman) of Chatham and John Randall (wife, Jody) Howard of Springfield; 11 grandchildren; three brothers, Ronald Howard of Arlington, Md., Gregory Howard of West Virginia and Ralph Howard of Monticello; half brother, Charles Howard of Auburn; sister, Evelyn VanDercook of Silver Springs, Md.; and half sister, Mary Frances Powell of Auburn.
Cremation will be accorded.
Memorial services: 6:00 p.m. Friday, Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Mike Pennell officiating.
