In what was a beautiful evening to kick off the 71st Lexington Junior League Horse Show, Arrowhead Farm, Grey Ridge Farm, Parker View Farm, Prospect Lane and Sunrise Stables hosted “An Evening Under The Stars” on Sunday, July 8. More than 250 guests gathered at the immaculate Paker View Farm in Versailles to view 24 mares and their 2007 babies as well as enjoy great food, drink and festivities that included a live auction to benefit Saddlebred Rescue, Inc.

Guests socialized and walked through the barns prior to the showing of the mares and foals. It’s no wonder it was a great group of babies as the mares were well bred and in great order. Some of those grand mares included Callaway’s Finders Keepers, dam of World’s Champion Marching Orders; Just Maggie, dam World’s Champion Cat’s Don’t Dance; and Leslie Lane, dam of reserve world’s champion Open Arms and world champion producing stallion The Sky King.

In addition to blue-blooded mares, the stallions represented among the foal crop included World’s Champion Santana’s Charm, World’s Champion Gothic Revival, The Mac Attack, (SA) Dellview Dare Time, Jon Bugatti and Let’s Tango All Night.

Before the evening was over Riverdreams LLC purchased a Santana’s Charm foal out of Bubbling Midnight Madness (Champagne Fizz x Just After Midnight). Leo Maxwell owned the mare and foal.

An Evening Under The Stars generated much interest in several of the mares and foals and, according to the hosts, will be an annual event. This year’s party even made the back cover of the Lexington Herald Leader’s Arts and Life section with three four-color photos.
