The Saddlebred world lost a grand show horse Friday, December 18, 2009, with the untimely death of Spool's Top Star R.H.F. (CH Top Spool x Star Salute). Carol Reedy and "Topsy" were enjoying their usual fun ride when the mare suffered a spontaneous ruptured aortic aneurysm.
Topsy's stunning beauty and classic American Saddlebred headset took her to the winner's circle many many times. She had the old timey park trot that made her a true Ladies Three-Gaited horse.
Her personality truly made her a joy to be around and to have her in one's life was simply special.
For those who were privileged to own, ride, and show her she was indeed that "once in a lifetime mare".
