Equine Obituary – Coe-Operation

Coe-Operation

Coe-Operation passed away on December 16, 2007.  He was 27 years old. By Coe’s Heir and out of a Starheart Stonewall granddaughter, Coe-Operation was bred by Shearer Stables of Monticello, Ky.

Coe was shown on the Kentucky circuit until 1994 and captured a yellow ribbon as a 3 year old showing three-gaited at Louisville. He then made his way to Birmingham, AL where he was shown by the Meads in Juvenile Pleasure. Many young riders (and old) in Alabama will remember their academy rides on Coe who likely took them to the blue ribbon and victory pass.  During the years before his retirement in 1999, Coe resided at Heathermoor Farms and worked his heart out teaching young riders in and out of the show ring.  While there he was owned by Emily Schwebke (her first horse) and then Joy O’Neal.

Later the Schwebkes would again own Coe and retire him to their pasture.  He remained vital until the day of his death, still remembering all those patterns previously required of him.  He was laid to rest near the pasture next to his old friend Happy.  He will truly be missed.
