Equine Obituary – CH LexTown TM

CH LexTown TM passed away peacefully July 29, 2007 with the four people who loved him most by his side, Steve Allred (trainer), his wife Anne, Mary Louise Eller Ball (rider), and Mrs. Aurelia Eller (owner). Sired by World Grand Champion Yorktown and foaled in 1983, LexTown was the 3-Year-Old and 4-Year-Old Five-Gaited World Champion, owned by Patti Dozier and trained by Dale Milligan, Tom Moore, and Nelson Greene.

Mary Louise Eller (now Ball) purchased him in 1989 and placed him in training with Steve Allred in Winston-Salem, NC. For the next ten years, they were a thrilling, explosive team, winning throughout the Southeast, Kentucky, Devon, and New York. They each were happiest when racking and trotting full steam ahead, and were really and truly “a pair.”

When Mary Louise was married in 1998, LexTown fittingly pulled the couple away from the church in an antique carriage. Like all great champions, LexTown was a once-in-a-lifetime horse, deeply loved, and will be enormously missed.
