Equine Obituary - CH Fire It Up

The Sturm family (Janet, Chris, Faith and Kaci) lost one of the troopers of their equine family with the January 2 passing of CH Fire It Up, 11, due to issues he had been battling with an ankle infection. The son of Capitol Fire and the good walk-trot mare CH Annie Up was bred by the James Orr family and was shown to a reserve world’s champion title in the adult pleasure division by Deborah (Orr) Visser with Jim Lowry as trainer. He is also a former Junior Exhibitor Show Pleasure 14-17 Reserve National Champion with Drew Taylor Hewitt.

Katie Cunningham had a good season with the expressive gelding before the Sturm family purchased him for daughter Faith. Their three seasons together resulted in victory passes and reserves at Midwest Charity, Indy Charity, Wisconsin Futurity, the Illinois State Fair, UPHA Chapter 10 Spring Show, ASAW Summerfun, Mid America Signature, and Iowa Fall Classic. The highlight of their career was the 2015 Junior Exhibitor Three-Gaited Show Pleasure National Championship at the UPHA/American Royal under the direction of Strickland Stables. That season also resulted in several year-end awards including People’s Choice Champion.
