Equine Death - Denmark’s Radiant Society
Tuesday, October 23, 2007
Denmark’s Radiant Society passed away this morning after sustaining a severe injury from a spontaneous rupture of a tendon in her left hind leg. Upon recommendation of the attending veterinarian and trainer Carter Cox, Radiant Society was euthanized. This Broodmare Hall of Fame mare will be buried at her home on Woodstock Farm. Bred by John L. Hutcheson of Happy Valley Farms, and owned since the age of two by Dr. Simon Fredricks, this legendary mare was 30 years old.
Shown only into her four-year-old year by Nelson Green, Radiant Society was the Two-Year-Old Fine Harness Reserve World’s Champion in 1979 and the 1980 world’s champion in the Fine Harness Three-Year-Old Stake. After a limited show career she went on to produce some of the industry’s top performing show horses. By CH Ronald Reagan and out of Denmark’s Society Sue (BHF), she gave the horse world such show ring champions as CH Be Happy, CH The Radiant Prince, CH Rejoice, CH Simbara’s Samba Jamba, CH A Sweet Treat, Simbara’s Cara Mia, Simbara’s Stars And Stripes, Simbara’s Audacity, The Great Gaspar, as well as breeding stallions Simbara’s Rising Son and Simbara’s Living Legend.
