Breakfast at the Castle Update



On July 11, 2009, just 200 lucky ticket holders will be able to visit Castle Post in Lexington to enjoy a Kentucky brunch underwritten by Dave and Dena Lopez to benefit the UPHA’s Dewey Henderson Benevolent Fund. In addition to the drawing for $10,000 attendees will have an opportunity to win a Beautiful collection of Freedman items that are only available through their Sponsorship program. The set includes a Zip Top Belize valued at $600, a Leather wrapped thermos valued at $100 and a Leather bankers bag valued at $50. Another lucky ticket holder will win a gift certificate for a full page ad in Saddle &Bridle Magazine.

Tickets are available and can be secured by sending in your ticket request found at www.uphaonline.com. Contact Dena Lopez at 859-312-7172 or Karen Richardson at 859-230-2427 for questions and to pick up your tickets when you arrive in Lexington.

During breakfast, guests will have an opportunity to place bids on silent auction items which include a certificate for a stay at Market Pavilion Hotel in Charleston, SC, or to use to dine at Grill 225. This certificate was generously donated by Cookie Palassis. Two airline tickets from www.PriceLine.com from Louisville to Las Vegas were secured by William Shatner to benefit the fund. A hand painted Christmas Ornament by Bonnie Murray will also be available for bidding. It will be your choice of horse, color and markings. A sample will be available. An item everyone needs at this time of year, two admission tickets and downstairs seats for Louisville 2009 have been donated by Dave and Dena Lopez for the auction. All proceeds go to support the UPHA Dewey Henderson Benevolent Fund.

Individuals have generously stepped up to support the fund. As of July 1, 2009 this list includes The Mary Gaylord Foundation, James and Helen Rosburg, The Kentucky Fall Classic Horse Show, Susan Whittington, Mary and Evan Orr, Show Ring Times and The Bluegrass Horseman.
