ASHAG/UPHA Chapter 17 Awards Banquet and Pro-Am Kick Off Auction

ATLANTA, Ga. - On Jan. 26, 2008, members and exhibitors from UPHA Chapter 17 and ASHAG held their annual awards banquet and the Pro-Am Benefit Horse Show Kick Off Auction. Everyone gathered at the historic Anthony’s Fine Dining in Atlanta, Ga. Anthony’s is known not only for its great food but for its venue – three wooded acres just minutes from downtown housed in a historic plantation home that is over 200 years old and comes with its own ghosts!

The evening began with the cocktail hour when everyone got a chance to catch up and bid on the silent auction items. After mingling, dinner was served and the live auction was held with great items including a full bumper signed by NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski, a driver for Dale Earnhardt Jr. (JR Mororsports), Fennell’s bridle, full color page in Saddle Horse Report or Horse World, 16 x 20 photo collage by Doug Shiflet, two roundtrip Airtran tickets and many other great things.

Pro-Am Leadership, Manager Scott Snider, VP Amanda

Ward, Sec. Tracy Marshall, Treas. Deidre Davis and 2008

Pres. Jim Henderson worked hard on the Pro-Am Kickoff

Auction raising almost $10,000.

After the auction the raffle drawing was held for the ATV that had been donated. Gary Hollowell drew the winning ticket and Barb Goda’s name was called.

Barb Goda showed off her new ATV

in rebel fashion.

It was quite a night for the Goda family as later in the evening John Goda Jr., was awarded the Frank Kennedy Humanitarian Award, Barb Goda was inducted into the UPHA Chapter 17 Old Milton Hall Of Fame and John Goda III received the UPHA Chapter 17 Trainer Achievement Award. (see separate story) Also honored for his many years of service was Jim Ruwoldt who was inducted into the ASHAG Hall Of Fame. (see separate story) Preceding these special awards were the ASHAG High Point awards and UPHA Chapter 17 awards.
