Arizona Saddlebred Futurity Horse Show to host ASHA’s Southwest Regional Championships




The 32nd edition of the Arizona Saddlebred Futurity Horse Show is very excited to be hosting the 1st Annual Southwest Regional Championships for horses whose owners reside in Zone 1 of ASHA.  The Horse Show and Saddlebred Futurity will run
October 27-29, 2006 at WestWorld of Scottsdale. Zone 1 encompasses the states of California, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Nevada. The Zone 1 horses placing highest in the performance and pleasure horse championship classes being offered will earn special ribbons and recognition as the Southwest Regional Champions.

 

Southwest Regional Championship honors will be awarded to the top horse/rider in each of the following Open and Amateur Championship classes; Five Gaited, Three Gaited, and the Open winner in the Fine Harness Division. Southwest Regional awards will be offered in both Adult and Junior Exhibitor Championship classes in Three Gaited Show Pleasure and Three Gaited English Country Pleasure. Awards will also be presented in the following Stake classes; Western Country Pleasure, Five Gaited Show Pleasure, Park Pleasure, Open Park, and the Saddle Seat Equitation Championship.

 

This year’s horse show will also feature additional breeds including a USEF “A” rated division for Morgans, a full NSHC-sanctioned Tennessee Waking Horse division, as well as added classes for Friesians and Saddlebreds.

 

Austin Van Wyck of Phoenix, Arizona will manage the 2006 horse show and futurity, while Jerry Beghtol will manage secretarial duties for the Saddlebred Futurity portion of the horse show. Judge Patty Kent of Chesapeake, Ohio will officiate for the Saddlebreds, Morgans, Friesians, Ponies, Equitation, Academy and the Open Division, and William Ty Irvy of Shelbyville, Tennessee will officiate for Tennessee Walking Horses. Premium books have been mailed and entries are due October 1, 2006.

 

A Saddlebred Stallion Presentation will be featured during Friday night’s session. The costume class for horses and riders will run Friday night as well.
