Alan Balch to Leave ASHA in February

President Judith Werner announced that Alan F. Balch, Executive Secretary/Registrar of the American Saddlebred Horse Association/Registry will be leaving his positions in mid-February, after serving in them since April 2004.

"We'll be sorry to lose Alan, who has contributed significantly to our breed and our governing organizations for nearly 6 years now.  I'm meeting with the ASHA officers immediately to get our search underway for his replacement," said Werner.

Balch commented, "When I came to ASHA, I don't think any of us anticipated my tenure would be as long as it has been.  This is a good time to leave, since a new board and volunteer leadership will be elected and in place in late February, and they should be able to look at the challenges facing this breed and all horse organizations with a fresh eye and some new approaches.  For my part, my decision will enable me to turn my attention more closely to USA Equestrian Trust, of which I'm president, and devote the time to those responsibilities they deserve."
