Lexington, Kentucky - The Lexington Junior League is pleased to announce that its 75th Charity Horse Show has been awarded the 2011 National Honor Show by the United Professional Horseman's Association (UPHA).

This is the fourth time the Lexington show has been recognized for excellence. The historic award, first given in 1970, was presented during the UPHA Annual Convention held in Nashville, Tennessee, January 5-7. The National Honor Show Award is presented to the show that meets the standards of the professional horsemen and the show horse industry. Founded in 1968, the United Professional Horseman’s Association has continued its mission to “improve the horse show industry and define and clarify their professionalism within the industry.”
 
The 2012 Lexington Junior League Charity Horse Show will be held Monday, July 9, through Saturday, July 14, 2012, at the Red Mile, Lexington, Kentucky. Kent Moeller, of Powhatan, Virginia, will serve as Manager of the 76th edition of this legacy event. Judges for the show are: Paul Boone, Concord, North Carolina, Josh Greer, East Bernstadt, Kentucky, and Bill Waller, Heiskell, Tennessee.
 
Reserved seating in the Grandstand is available Monday through Thursday for $10, and Friday and Saturday for $15. General admission tickets may be purchased at the door for $5 Monday through Thursday, and $10 Friday and Saturday. Children under six are admitted free. Proceeds benefit local and regional charitable organizations sponsored by the Junior League of Lexington.
 
The Lexington Junior League Charity Horse Show is the first leg of the American Saddlebred Triple Crown. Known for being the world’s largest outdoor Saddlebred horse show, it attracts over 30,000 spectators, with out-of-town visitors generating approximately $5 million in revenue for the Lexington community each year. Nearly, 1,000 exhibitors travel from all over the world to compete for $70,000 in prize money. In addition to viewing some of the finest horses in the world, the show features unique events and shopping in the Gaited Gallery each night.
