Youth Conference To Take Place During ASHA Annual Meeting

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Saddlebred Horse Association’s Youth Conference, scheduled for February 21-22, 2003, will once again be held in conjunction with the organization’s Annual Meeting at the Embassy Suites in Lexington, Kentucky. The Youth Conference, open to anyone age 17 and under, has scheduled many fun, educational events for young Saddlebred enthusiasts.

Events begin Friday evening with a “Welcome to Lexington” Fun Night and Pizza Party. Then, on Saturday morning, participants will enjoy a series of roundtables, including Dress For Success with Jo Cornell; Performance Riding with Smith Lilly; and A Healthy Horse and Dr. Louis Johnson.

In the afternoon, attendees will board a bus for Sunrise Stables and Double D Ranch in Versailles, Kentucky. Melissa Moore will give an exhibition on harness horses, and Dena Tanner Lopez will demonstrate how she starts a young horse. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to visit with some of their favorite show stars from these stables.

The Conference will wind down on Saturday evening as the younger set will have their own awards dinner and dance. ASHA Foundation Scholarship recipient, Chandler Bell, will be the featured guest speaker. ASHA will present their year-end youth awards, which include the ASHA Foundation Academy medal winners, the ASHA Juvenile Choice winners, and the Youth Club of the Year awards.

The cost for this annual event if $85.00. Special room rates are available through February 5th from the Embassy Suites at 859-455-5000.
