World Cup Fund Raiser To Be Held at Red Mile



The first fundraising event for the U.S. Saddle Seat World Cup in 2002 will be held Sun., July 7, at the Red Mile Clubhouse in Lexington. The evening is planned to raise funds for the U.S. team’s trip to the World Cup event to be held in South Africa in October 2002. The event will be a dinner/dance and will begin at 6 p.m. with a selection of hot hors d’ oeuvres to start. Guests may purchase cocktails from the cash bar which will remain open throughout the evening. Dinner will be a buffet featuring prime rib and roasted pork loin carving station, pasta station, a seafood station with items including king crab legs and prawns. Assorted salads, vegetables, breads and a wide variety of desserts will also be available on the buffet.

Following dinner there will be a brief auction featuring items including a photo package, with photos by Howard Schatzberg, Avis, and Jane Jacobs; full length shearling coat, Carl Meyers riding coat, 14 karat gold matching bracelet and necklace, Douwe Blumberg sculpture, Le Chreview silks and helmet, 1997-2001 “Stake Night at Louisville” videos, full page black and white ad in Saddle & Bridle, full page color ad in The National Horseman, 2002 MMX Shively Saddle, 26 x 20 “Challenge Of The Eighties” photo of Skywatch vs. Imperator, signed and numbered crystal stallion statue by Daum, color pencil Saddlebred framed and double matted print, and a dressage saddle. More items are planned for the auction as well.

A dance, with music provided by Billy Becker, will be held after the auction to close out the evening.
