Warm Hospitality at Morristown Charity Horse Show

by Dianna Pearson

WHITE PINE, Tenn.- The Morristown Charity Horse Show, held Oct. 6-8 at the Walters State Great Smoky Mountains Expo Center in White Pine, Tenn., drew entries from throughout the region.  The show hosts the American Saddlebred Breeders’ Futurity of Tennessee and the ETSA Harvest Breeders’ Jackpot.

Hospitality abounds at the Morristown Charity Horse Show and 2006 was no exception to that rule.  Exhibitors were treated to a cookout on Thursday evening and served hamburgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings. The exhibitors’ party following the show on Saturday evening featured a Mardi Gras theme and various barns provided delicious food for the event.  Sweet rolls and plenty of coffee were made available on those chilly mornings.

Proceeds from the horse show benefit the local Girls, Inc.  Volunteers from Girls, Inc. assisted show organizers by performing a variety of jobs during the show.  At various times they walked through the barns chatting with exhibitors making sure they had everything they needed.

Gary Garone from Richmond, N.H., served as judge for the event.  Terry Young of Lexington, Ky., was the show’s official photographer and Taulby Runyon of Morristown, Tenn., was the farrier.  Lil Miller of Gray, Tenn., was announcer.

Donna Walls served as manager for the show and as usual did a wonderful job of keeping the show on track and things running smoothly.  The dates for the 2007 Morristown Charity Horse Show are already set for Oct. 5-7.
