UPHA Statement on COVID-19

As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve UPHA feels it is important to share the steps we are taking to help navigate these difficult times.

UPHA supports USEF’s recommendation of cancellation of equestrian competitions for the next 30 days. We recognize the economic impact these decisions will have on our members. The UPHA Executive Board is meeting weekly to identify means of assistance and has appointed a committee to research and develop potential avenues of economic support for our members. In addition we want you to be aware of a few resources that currently exist:

-U.S. Small Business Administration-Provides low-interest disaster loans to help businesses and homeowners recover from declared disasters. Find more information on the SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loans at: https://www.sba.gov/funding-programs/disaster-assistance

-Better Business Bureau-Business Tips: How to Navigate the Coronavirus Crisis https://www.bbb.org/article/news-releases/21714-business-tips-how-to-navigate-the-coronavirus-crisis

-Contact your local Chamber of Commerce as they will list resources for your specific area

-Contact your lender and loan service provider to find out what options are available to you such as: refinance, loan modification, new repayment plan or forbearance.

The health and safety of your clients, employees and visitors is a top priority. We urge you to monitor the situation with COVID-19 in your area and take every precaution to ensure your barn remains a safe environment for your customers and employees. Follow the recommendations by the CDC regarding sanitary practices; disinfect common areas and shared tack/equipment, limit physical contact and encourage those to not visit the barn if they or anyone in their family are ill.

We are here to support you. We will send updates as we have additional information to share. Please do not hesitate to contact UPHA President, Cindy Mugnier via email cmugnier@aol.com with any questions or concerns.
