The 2015 UPHA National Convention will begin with the USEF Judging clinics on Wednesday January 14, 2015.
 
On Wednesday as well there will be the Golf Tournament at the beautiful Ford Plantation in Richmond Hill, Georgia which is kindly being hosted by Laura Lee Samford.  Don’t miss out on the opportunity to play this private Pete Dye designed course.  This course has been said to be one of America's Finest Private golf courses, as well as in 2014 was voted one of the best new golf courses in America by Golf Digest Magazine.  Contact Pam Roush at 813-765-7162 if you are interested in playing in the tournament.

Thursday night kicks off with the “Welcome to Savannah Party” at the beautiful Charles H. Morris Center and Trustees Gardens, featuring 2014 BMI Song Writer of the Year, Country Music Singer/Songwriter Rhett Akins. This event is graciously being hosted by Helen Rich and Alexandra DeGray.  Our Entertainer for the evening, Rhett Akins is part of the hit songwriting trio The Peach Pickers who hail from the state of Georgia.  Between The Peach Pickers, they have over 60 number one hits.  You might remember Rhett from his younger days when he had singles and number one songs on the radio such as “Don’t Get Me Started” and “That Ain’t My Truck”. The 2014 and 2011 EMI and BMI Songwriter of the Year winner will entertain us with many of the songs he has penned such as “Honey Bee” and “Boys Round Here” which were cut by Blake Shelton, “I Don’t Want This Night to End” which was a Luke Bryan hit, “When She Says Baby” which was a number one single for Jason Aldean, and list goes on and on which includes recent number one singles “It Goes Like This” and “Get Me Some of That” which were recorded by Rhett’s son Big Machine Records/Valory Music Group Recording Artist Thomas Rhett.  Be prepared to be entertained by a Georgia native and one of Nashville’s best!  

Our Family Activities will be on Friday and Saturday afternoons and are generously being hosted by the Schaffel Family.   On Friday afternoon any UPHA National Convention registered guest can go on a 90 minute fully narrated Historic Savannah Trolley Tour which has been voted the Best Tour of Savannah.  On Saturday guests can ride aboard and take a narrated Harbor Tour on Savannah Riverboat Cruises. This one hour sightseeing harbor cruise is a fun and educational tour for children and adults alike. 

You won’t want to miss the forums and speakers at this year’s convention. 
Friday morning kicks off with an Open Discussion titled "Perception is Reality" Understanding the Horse Protection Act and How it Impacts Our Profession”. Jay Hickey, the President of the American Horse Counsel will preside over this discussion.
Friday will also feature the Open UPHA Equitation Forum which will cover “Hot Topics in the World of Saddle Seat Equitation” as well as the ASHA Instructors Forum which will discuss "How to take a rider from academy to the show ring" as well as "How to run a successful Riding Program".
Saturday morning’s speaker will be Mr. Jim Gibby who is a Business Consultant for the Equine Professional.  He will be presenting "Running a financial check up on your business".
 Saturday afternoon, the UPHA Open Forums will take place which will include Bret Day discussing "Harnessing for Success"  Smith Lilly will be speaking about how "Happy Horses Trot Higher".  UPHA will then open up the floor for the membership to discuss “What’s On Your Mind”.  This is an open discuss about the future of the Show Horse Industry. 

Saturday night will be the UPHA/AHHS/ASHA Awards and Masquerade Gala Dinner so bring your mask or one will be provided. The theme of the event is the “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil”.  Most will remember this New York Times Best Seller by John Berendt was loosely based on real life events that happened in Savannah.
