UPHA Chapter 14 Winter Tournament Exceeds Expectations

Posted April 24, 2002
Despite a decent snowfall the night before, the largest turnout to date, with 85 entries, was recorded at the UPHA Chapter 14 Winter Tournament, hosted by High Tail Acres Equestrian Center in Newbury, Mass., on Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002.

With eleven barns making the snowy ride, parking for spectators and exhibitors was seen as far as a quarter of a mile away. Judging the many entries was Kristen Spann of Cricket Hill Farm.   The scheduled February Tournament, was held Feb. 3rd, 2002, hosted by Phoenix Stables. For the first time, the classes were simulcast live over their website, www.Phoenixstables.com. Although turnout was not quite as high, with only six barns taking part, judge Barbara Currier, had plenty of talent to choose from. Owner of Phoenix Stables, Kevin Tomasko prepared the facility, with accurate directions, road signs and designated parking areas.

The final tournament is scheduled for March 10, 2002 at Majestic Meadows in Stratham, N.H. For more information contact Sarah Wright Lettre at (207)626-5680.
