UPHA Chapter 5 Updates

Officials of the UPHA Chapter 5 Horse Show have announced some exciting updates to their 2021 show, which will be held May 13 – 16 in Hale Arena, Kansas City, Missouri. Melissa Moore will judge all divisions of this year’s event and she will be joined in center ring by photographer Howie Schatzberg and ringmaster Jerome Parker.

One of the highlights this year will be the $5,000 All Breed Pro-Am Three-Gaited class. With an entry fee of $100, the class will pay $1,000 each to the first five ribbon winners with $500 of that going to the professional and $500 going to the amateur. Sixth through eighth place will receive $100 each. The class will be scored 50% on the horse (performance, presence, quality, manners and conformation) and 50% on the rider’s ability and showmanship. The professionals will ride the first way of the ring and the amateurs the second. With a top group of American Saddlebred and Morgan barns at Chapter 5 this promises to be a competitive and entertaining class with great prize money on the line.

Another chance for exhibitors to win big will be the $20,000 50/50 raffle. Be sure to get your ticket for a chance to win. A full slate of classes is offered in the American Saddlebred, Morgan, Hackney, Parade, and Shetland divisions, including UPHA Classics for the Saddlebreds. There are also several open pleasure classes for both saddle and driving.

Entries close April 23 and post entries are accepted with a fee. For more information contact show manager Peter Fenton (859) 321-9281 or show secretary Kelly McFaul at (316) 650-2287. You can also visit www.uphachapter5.com.
