Third Horse Euthanized in Double D Ranch Case



Kiss Me, one of the five horses injured in the apparent attack on Dave and Dena Lopez’s Double D Ranch in Versailles, Ky., was put to rest on July 18, 2003. CH Wild-Eyed And Wicked and CH Meet Prince Charming, the first of the injured horses to be euthanized, were put down July 17. The two remaining horses, Sassational and Cats Don’t Dance, were still in stable condition as of Saturday, July 19.

Kentucky State Police have been investigating the case. They are considering charges of third degree burglary, first degree-criminal mischief and cruelty to animals, two felonies and a misdemeanor, but no arrests have been made thus far.

A reward of at least $100,000 is being offered by USA Equestrian, Inc., for information leading to the apprehension and successful prosecution of those individuals responsible for the apparent attacks on five horses.
