Spring Hackney Sale Huge Success

A crowd in excess of 300 was in attendance

at the Spring Hackney Sale.

SHELBYVILLE, Ky. - The dispersal of Rodney Root's Jubilee Farm highlighted the Spring Hackney Sale on April 6-7, 2007, at the historic fairgrounds in Shelbyville, Ky. Over 300 Hackney enthusiasts from across the country and Canada were in attendance to select proven show champions, show prospects and breeding stock.

The sale kicked off Friday afternoon with a consignment tack sale featuring everything from work and show harness to trailers. Total sales figures topped $30,000 by the end of the session.

A consignment of 64 catalogued ponies, which included the prestigious Jubilee Farm session, brought buyers in from the frigid cold. Headlining the much-anticipated consignment, and topping the overall sale, was Dun-Haven Wonderous Ways, a broodmare in foal to Kilbro’s Image. A $10,000 pledge sealed the deal on this mare. Bruce Eckstrom and Chuck McCallister are the new owners of First Lady who earned an $8,750 final bid. High-stepping Wild Turkey JF made his presence known, commanding an $8,000 ticket. Spencer, an exciting two-year-old road pony prospect earned a $7,500 commitment.

First Lady, by Dun-Haven Awesome Creation,

was the second highest selling consignment.

Many other exciting entries were also offered. Sales Manager Terry Griesinger was very proud of the outcome and stated that over $100,000 changed hands. Plans are already underway for the next sale scheduled for April 4-5, 2008.  For more information, contact Terry Griesinger, 744 Smith-Hiteman Road, Alexandra, KY 41001, phone (859) 635-3372 or fax (859) 635-4004.
