Southern States Regional News And Additions



Show manager Liz Holmes has announced several additions for the upcoming Southern States Regional. The show known for its award-winning hospitality will be held at the James B. Hunt Horse Complex at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds in Raleigh, NC on May 25-28. Twelve total classes have been added:

 

  • CLASS #31A – Pleasure Driving Pony Open – will follow Class #31 on Wednesday Morning.
  • CLASS #33A – Friesian Country Pleasure Driving Open – will follow Class #33 on Wednesday Morning.
  • CLASS #55A – Morgan Pleasure Driving 3-Year-Old – will be the 1st class on Thursday Morning.
  • CLASS #76A – Three-Gaited Pleasure Pony – will follow Class #76 on Thursday Morning.
  • CLASS #77 – printed in the prize list as “Saddle Seat Equitation-17 & Under” – will split and be CHANGED to read as follows: 
  • Class #77 – Saddle Seat Equitation 14-17 Years 
  • Class #84A – Saddle Seat Equitation 13 & Under (to follow Class #84 on Thursday Evening)
  • CLASS #107A – Morgan Pleasure Driving Limit Horse – will follow Class #107 on Friday Morning.
  • CLASS #117A – Pleasure Driving Pony Championship Open – will follow Class #117 on Friday Morning.  Must have qualified in Class #31A.
  • CLASS #117B – Friesian Country Pleasure Driving Championship Open – will follow Class #117A, to be the last class on Saturday Morning.  Must have qualified in Class #33A.
  • CLASS #147A – Academy Equitation Walk/Trot Adult – will follow Class #147 on Saturday Morning.
  • CLASS #149A – Academy Showmanship Walk/Trot Adult – will follow Class #149 on Saturday Morning. 

•   CLASS #176A – Three-Gaited Pleasure Pony Championship – will follow 176 on Saturday Morning. Must have qualified in Class #76A.

• A Park Pleasure class is also being added and management will announce the placement in the schedule.

The show will be the site of two special events on Friday, May 27. It will be the inaugural “Veterans Appreciation Night” to honor and memorialize the veterans of our nation, both past and present. The evening will also feature the show ring retirement of JW That Special Flaire, the record-setting Morgan Park Harness World champion, by his devoted owner Frances Pugh.
