Singer Makes Morgan History

Lisa Singer of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, made Morgan history when she was named as part of the U.S. team to compete in Wals-Siezenheim, Austria, at the World Pairs Championship in September. Singer has earned a spot on the U.S. Pairs international team every selection year since 1995, a Morgan breed record.

Singer will be competing with Anne “Mimi” Thorington’s chestnut Morgan geldings Count On Me (Kennebec Count x Nemours Isabella) and LR Ami Bengali (HRM Eye Of The Tiger x LR Amie Allynda).

Singer is the Morgan driver with the most driving accomplishments both in the United States and abroad. She has helped raise the recognition level of the Morgan breed in the sport of combined driving throughout her career. Among her achievements are being crowned USET Pairs Driving Champion an unprecedented six times. Singer also is the only woman driver ever to win the USET Pairs Championship.

Also serving as alternate to the pairs team is Morgan driver Alan Aulson of Georgetown, Massachusetts. Aulson competes with four Morgans: Nordby Coalie’s Coal Dust (Ortawn Captain Royal x Coal Creek Sabra’s Coalie) Nordby Coalie’s Duke (Caduceus Falcon x Coal Creek Sabra’s Coalie), River Run Legend (Spring Hills Finnlee x Hy Tyme Shillalagh), and Meddo’s Chief George (Del View Ebony Fox x Skybeck Alouette).

Singer will be joined on the American Pairs team with Fritz Grupe of Lodi, California, and Mike McLelland of Brenham, Texas. For the first time in history, two members of the American Pairs Team hail from west of the Mississippi River. The drivers will be supported by team coach Chester Webb, Dr. Mar Revenaugh DVM, and farrier Dave Vanderhoof.
