Sheffield Recovering From Cancer Surgery

Ray Sheffield, publisher of The National Horseman for almost 40 years, is recovering from bladder and prostate surgery which he underwent in early June. Despite the fact that he is 80 years old, Sheffield is recovering from the surgery quickly which was necessary to treat an aggressive form of bladder cancer.

Doctors indicate that the surgery was very successful, and his prognosis is excellent, if guarded. It is a very difficult surgery to recover from necessitating no food or water for more than two weeks.

After a lengthy stay in Cardinal Hill Rehab Hospital in Lexington, Ky., Sheffield is now at home in Lexington where he enjoys being with his daughter Tricia Sheffield McBeath and his grandson. Cards and notes of encouragement can be sent to him at 3051 Rio Dosa Dr., #304A, Lexington, Ky., 40514.
