Samuel "Dickey" Davis Passes Away



Samuel "Dickey" Davis, 69, of Wytheville, VA, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 15, 2013, at the Bristol Regional Medical Center after a hard fought battle. Dickey was owner and trainer at Fort Chiswell Farm and breeder of numerous champion American Saddlebreds. Dickey and wife Rae Lee were married on October 1, 2013 in a private ceremony at the Graystone Rehab Center in Blountville, TN, so the couple were newlyweds.



The family will receive friends on Monday, November 18 from 6 - 8 p.m. at The Wytheville Presbyterian Church, 285 Church Street, Wytheville, VA. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 19 at 1 p.m. at the church with burial following in the family cemetery. Grubb Funeral Home (276 228-3101) of Wytheville, VA, is in charge of the arrangements.

            The 114th World’s Championship Horse Show got underway Saturday night, August 19 with 89 teams competing in the opening session.
