Saddlebred Rescue Receives Large Donation

Saddlebred Rescue, Inc. a national charitable organization that saves saddleseat horses from slaughter, recently received a $10,000 donation from the Mary Gaylord McClean Foundation. “The donation came at a crucial time of the year. Our donations are down considerably and we have a lot of horses to feed” says Pat Johnson, Executive Director.

Mary is a lifelong horsewoman who is passionately devoted to many breeds of horses and ponies having shown American Saddlebreds, Hackney ponies and Friesians. Mary's philanthropic kindness extends in many areas ranging from support of handicap riding and the UPHA Exceptional Challenge Cup to providing a permanent home for friends' retired show horses

Saddlebred Rescue is a not-for-profit organization that adopts Saddlebreds, Hackneys and Morgans from situations that have placed them in danger. The largest number of horses come from auction in New Holland, PA and were ultimately bound for slaughter. All of the money donated to Saddlebred Rescue goes towards saving, evaluating and housing Saddlebred, Hackneys and Morgans that are in dangerous situations prior to being adopted out into their forever homes.
