River Ridge News and Special Events

The 2009 version of the River Ridge Horse Show, to be held at the Ohio State Fairgrounds coliseum, is geared up and ready for another successful show. Dates this year are April 22-25. Assigned the judging duties are John T. Jones, Lexington, Ky., who will oversee the Saddlebreds, Harness/Hackney and roadster ponies and horses, along with equitation. John McDonald, Lake Clair, N.Y., will judge the Morgan division while Bruce Peyton, Jonesboro, Ga., will officiate over the academy division.

Following the precedent set at the 2008 Lexington Junior League Horse Show and other Midwest shows, Howard Schatzberg is the exclusive photographer at the 2009 River Ridge Horse Show.

Any other photography taken for commercial or advertising purposes of subjects within the show ring without prior written consent of show management is expressly forbidden. Violation of this rule will be grounds for removal from the show grounds.  Individuals are permitted to take photographs for personal use and/or editorial use.  However the sale of said photos is strictly prohibited.

New this year at the show will be two special events for the professional. On Wednesday and Thursday following the afternoon session, trainers are encouraged to bring their young and/or sale horses for these two exhibitions. River Ridge understands with show season just beginning young horses as well as horses for sale need to be worked. This is one big reason why these special exhibitions are being offered. This gives the professional a chance for their youngsters and sale horses to be seen.

Stall fees for these two exhibitions will be $60 with a $15 office fee. There will be no charge for these exhibitions. These horses must be shown by a professional only. A biography must be filled out for the announcer to read during the presentations. No USEF drug fees will be charged. Trainers must have horses entered to be eligible for these two special events. More information can be obtained by contacting Show Manager Barbara Dunham at www.riverridgehorseshowgehs.com or Show Secretary Dayne Maple at 740-259-8027.

Update:
The River Ridge Charity Horse Show wishes to rescind its current policy concerning the issue of freelance photography at the 2009 show at this time.

Management wishes to advise all exhibitors that Howard Schatzberg Photography is the official show photographer, and he will be available to take your photos.

Show management will be reviewing its policies and procedures at the conclusion of the show.
