Reminder of Monday, Dec. 31 Saddlebred Registry and Prize Program Deadlines & Fee Revisions

Lexington, Ky. – End of the year deadlines are approaching for registrations, transfers and eligibility for American Saddlebred Registry prize programs. The key dates to remember are Monday, December 31, 2007 and a 10-day grace period deadline (applicable to some deadlines) of Thursday, January 10, 2008.

REGISTRATIONS

A $150 fee for all horses aged 12 months and over applies to all registration applications postmarked on or before Monday, December 31, 2007. After that time, a $250 registration fee will apply for horses aged 12 months up to 24 months, and a $500 registration fee will apply for horses aged 24 months and over.

For all foals with foaling dates of January 1, 2007 through August 1, 2007, fees for registration will remain at $35 provided their applications for registration are postmarked on or before Monday, December 31, 2007. The new fee schedule applies to foals with foaling dates after August 1, 2007 and became effective October 1, 2007. The registration fee of $35 remains unchanged for foals from birth up to three months of age. A $10 increase in fee, from $35 to $45, applies to foals of three months up to six months of age. A $5 increase in fee, from $50 to $55, applies to foals from six months up to nine months of age. A $15 increase, from $50 to $65, applies to foals from nine months to 12 months of age.

TRANSFERS

The fee to transfer a Saddlebred remains at $50, but late fees of $10 per month begin to accrue 30 days after a horse is sold, rather than at 90 days under the previous schedule. The maximum penalty remains at $200. The new practice applies to any horse sold after September 15. The previous fee schedule applies to horses sold between January 1 and September 15, 2007, provided the transfer is postmarked on or before Monday, December 31, 2007.

ASR
FUTURITIES

To nominate any 2007 foal to any of the American Saddlebred Registry Futurities – the Kentucky, Kentucky Amateur and National Three-Year-Old Futurities – all horses must be registered or the application for registration must be received in the American Saddlebred Registry office by Monday, December 31, 2007. There is no grace period and applications must be received, not postmarked, in the office on or before Monday, December 31, 2007.

ASR
GRAND NATIONAL

The deadline for nominating stallions to ASR Grand National in order for all 2007 foals to be eligible for recording is Monday, December 31, 2007. The deadline for recording 2007 foals to ASR Grand National is also Monday, December 31, 2007.

GRACE PERIOD

With the exception of the ASR Futurity deadlines, a 10-day grace period applies to all other Monday, December 31, 2007 deadlines, which allows for items to be postmarked no later than Thursday, January 10, 2008.
