Ray Cloninger Carolina Champions

In 2007, riders competing in the Carolina Horse Shows managed by Ray Cloninger will be credited points based on their placing in several of the American Saddlebred divisions. Also included in the awards will be classes in the roadster horse and pony and saddle seat equitation divisions. The highest point total will determine the champions at the end of the last show of the series which will be the Carolina Classic,
Williamston, N.C., in October. Plans are still being worked out and may include the academy division.

Plans are also being made to have championship classes at the last show to feature the American Saddlebred horse in a Carolina Cup class that will include prize money and the Carolina Cup Trophy.

Sponsorships will be offered for the Carolina Cup class finals and they will be publicized throughout the year.

The Carolina Classic Horse Show is held at the Senator Bob Martin Eastern Agricultural Center, Williamston, N.C. The facility is one of the finest layouts for the horses, exhibitors and spectators in the country. It has excellent stabling, two outside warm-up rings, one covered warm-up ring and an indoor show arena with excellent seating for the spectator.

In moving the show to October, the weather is excellent at that time of year and should be perfect for the ninth annual Carolina Classic Horse Show which benefits Martin Community College Equestrian Scholarships and other local charities. The show is a 501(C)3 charitable corporation.
