Raleigh Ready for State Charity Classic and State Championship

The Governor James B. Hunt Horse Complex in Raleigh, NC will be a busy place beginning Friday, September 7 and 8 with the 4th Annual NC State Charity Classic Horse Show, followed by the 55th Annual NC State Championship Charity Horse Show, September 12-15. Bill Whitley manages both events. The website, ncschs.com, has been updated with the prize list, including a complete class schedule.

“We’re looking forward to two strong shows,” said Whitley. “We really appreciate the loyal exhibitors who have made these shows what they are.”

The NC State Charity Classic kicks off the two-weekend schedule. Nancy Becker of Nicholasville, KY, will judge the Saddlebred, Hackney, Morgan and Academy classes, which are held in four sessions over two days.

The red carpet is rolled out for exhibitors at the NC State Championship Charity Horse Show. Nightly parties, culminating with the Matt Shiflet Stables party on Friday night, featuring Iron Horse, make this one of the most social shows on the calendar. Jack Russell Terrier Races will precede the Saturday evening session.

While everyone is having fun, there’s also a topnotch horse show going on.  Heading the list of 2012 officials are Saddlebred, Hackney and roadster judges James Nichols, Fay Lowry and David Cater. Lowry will also judge the Morgan and Academy divisions. Cater will mark the cards in the Friesian classes. Also part of the official family are Kent Moeller, ringmaster; Doug Shiflet, photographer; and Mark Farrar, announcer. Stacy Beam will entertain the audience as organist.
