Plans Underway for 2007 Diamond Jubilee Benefit Horse Show

The 35th Diamond Jubilee has been renamed the Diamond Jubilee Benefit Horse Show. The show being held April 13-15 in Del Mar, California has added some American Saddlebred, Pony and Open classes to its full Morgan division. The benefiting charity this year is the SUSAN G. KOMEN BREAST CANCER FOUNDATION. The show is again presented by The Morgan Horse Club of San Diego County. Parties and festivities are planned for this show which traditionally has launched the Morgan Horse show season in Southern California. The updated character of the show, which presents an exciting new opportunity for horse show people in Southern California, is expected to be expanded in future years.

The Morgan Division is A-rated by USEF. The Morgan judges are Fay and Jim Lowry; they will divide judging duties for the OTAB and Miscellaneous classes, with Jim handling the American Saddlebred and Pony classes. A (USEF "C-rated") American Saddlebred division has been added to the show as well as a Hackney Pony Pleasure Driving class and Stake. (note: The Country Pleasure Driving classes were intended to be saddle events, NOT driving, and that correction is being made to the prize list.)

The Saddle Seat Equitation Championship will be open to riders on any breed of horse (the Prize List INCORRECTLY states "Morgans Only) and a qualifying class was added to be open to riders on any breed of horse.

The show is a week later than last year, on the weekend following Easter, which also takes it even closer to the good weather in wonderful Del Mar, California. The Diamond Jubilee committee and officials are looking forward to seeing everyone in Del Mar.
