Pike’s Peak Horse Show

A new horse show arrived on the scene at a wonderful vacation spot in Colorado Springs, Colo. on Memorial weekend!  Vicki Hill of Westwood Equestrian Development, Inc. and the Colorado American Saddlebred Horse Association put on the two-day horse show on May 27-28.  The weekend was filled with food, fun and showing horses!  Scott Perrelli, the show judge, was welcomed to Colorado Springs with a special upgrade to a large suite at The Broadmoor, complements of Mary Gaylord McClean. The Broadmoor also offered suites at a reduced rate for horse show participants.  Thank you so much for your support Mary!

The show facility, the Norris-Penrose Center, offered a large indoor arena and 2 outdoor arenas for showing.  There were plenty of barns with very large stalls and good footing.  The show offered two performances on Saturday and one evening performance on Sunday.  There was a wide variety of American Saddlebred classes from five-gaited to academy.  The show also offered open classes for other breeds to participate.

The shorter schedule made it so participants could enjoy the beautiful facility at The Broadmoor and the local sites.  Some of the extracurricular activities for exhibitors were the Spa at The Broadmoor, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, traveling to the top of Pikes Peak, Garden of the Gods, the United States Air Force Academy, and local fly fishing in 11 Mile Canyon.  Saturday night also featured a bar-b-cue for exhibitors at the horse show and a sing-a-long at the famous Golden Bee Bar at The Broadmoor.

The Pike’s Peak Horse Show is scheduled for the middle of May in 2007.  Plan to attend if you want to have a great vacation and show horses in the same trip!
