Paul Briney Passes Away




Paul Briney passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 due to complications from several strokes this year. Briney’s contributions to the American Saddlebred industry are numerous including his many years as president and manager of the Midwest Charity Horse Show as well as many years served as president of the Illinois Horsemen’s Council.

He and Sally Jo (nee´ Lockwood) Briney were married for 54 years and together created Pratense´ Farm in Chatham, Illinois where they bred, trained and showed American Saddlebreds. The family remains immersed in the Saddlebred industry to this day both in and out of the show ring.

Paul is survived by Sally Jo, daughter and Pratense Farm trainer Paula, son Rob, daughter-in-law Betsy and grandchildren Lauren and Gage. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 24th from 10:30am-1pm with service to follow at 1 pm at Bisch Funeral Home in Springfield, Illinois.
