Oklahoma Centennial Horse Show 2007 - Off on the Right Hoof

Oklahoma’s Centennial

In 2007, Oklahoma will officially celebrate our Centennial. It will be a great year to visit Oklahoma while we host multiple events to celebrate!  It is the Centennial Horse Show’s goal to shine during this year of celebration for Oklahoma, and also to celebrate our 18th year. The Centennial Horse Show is an official Centennial event.

Oklahoma Centennial Horse Show
New and exciting renovations continue on the equine facilities at the
Oklahoma State Fair Park. Organizers of the Oklahoma Centennial Horse Show listened to our trainers and exhibitors, and are working to make it an even greater show in 2007.

Show dates are Wed. April 11 through Sat. April 14, 2007. Here’s just a sampling of the great things happening...

New Digs: State Fairground Renovations

Because Barns 1 & 2 will be torn down to make way for new construction, we are moving our show from the coliseum to the arena located in Barn 6. The arena is the same size as the coliseum, but it allows for more intimate audience seating.

It’s newly painted, with better lighting and audio, and permanent curtains have been added to the west side which adds better acoustics.

And, most importantly, the horses’ entrance gate has been relocated and the slope removed, so their entry and exit will be easy.

Warm-Up Rings

We will have four warm-up rings! One is adjacent to the entrance of the arena. The new outdoor covered ring to the south of Barn 6 has garnered rave reviews from those showing this Fall.

To the west of Barn 6 is a new outdoor, uncovered ring. And we will also have access to the brand new Barn 3. This is a beautiful facility, with glassed in food and hospitality areas and new stalls.

“It will be a great place for our parties and get-togethers following the evening sessions,” said Karen Cunningham, board chair.

Trailer Parking

The Oklahoma State Fair Park has fenced in the horse trailer parking area, with guarded entry for greater peace of mind and enhanced security.

Progressive Barn Party!

The Progressive Barn Party is back by popular demand. It will be on Thursday night. We look forward to everyone participating again. In the upcoming premium book mailing, we’ll include local organizer contacts and suggested caterers for your convenience.

Move In & Footing

Everything will be ready for trainers to move in as early as Sunday, April 8, which is Easter Sunday.

We understand there were some footing issues last year, and we’re going to do everything to make sure 2007 is flawless.

Scott Snider, “footing guru,” will ensure the footing is in tip-top shape and ready for workouts on Sunday.

Trainer Incentives

An addition to the 2007 show will be trainer incentives. We will provide prizes to trainers for bringing the most horses, traveling the greatest distance and give discounts for larger groups.

We are continuing to add Jackpot classes every year.

Judges & News

Donna Pettry-Smith will judge the Saddlebred, Roadster, Hackney and Equitation categories and Harold Angell will serve as Morgan judge. Ringmasters will be William Whitley and Don Baker.

We plan on having a welcome party for the trainers and exhibitors on Wednesday evening at the barns with entertainment provided.

We have a new organist this year, Gene Wright from Louisville.

Show management is on board for touching base with everyone and working hard to make the show a great one for the trainers and exhibitors of Morgans, Saddlebreds, Road Horses and Hackney Ponies!

Scarlett, Beth and Scott have made the transition as the show management team and are looking forward to working with everyone this year.
