Octoberfest Adds Classes

The Northeastern Hackney Association has chosen Octoberfest Horse Show, held October 11-13 at the Eastern States Exposition Center in West Springfield, Mass., to hold its Junior Exhibitor Hackney Pleasure Driving Challenge Class. Fifteen hundred dollars in prize money is being offered for this class. The entries must be registered Hackney ponies, however, does not have to be owned by the junior exhibitor showing.

The AHHS Junior Exhibitor Pleasure Pony Under Saddle Medallion has also been added and due to the large number of entries last year, the Western Pleasure division is USAE “A” rated.

Many of the usual activities that have made Octoberfest a popular and fun show are back with the Set-Up Party on Thursday night; Trick or Treating, a costume contest with prizes for several categories in the main barn on Friday; and the ever popular Progressive Aisle Party on Saturday night.

Michael E. Craghead of Livermore, Calif., is judging the American Saddlebred, Saddle Seat Equitation, Hackney/Harness Pony, Roadster, National Show Horse, Carriage Driving, and Pleasure Driving divisions. Josh D. Merritt of Vernon, Vt., will judge the Morgan, Hunter/Stock Seat Equitation, English/Western Pleasure, Hunter Pleasure, Beginners’ Pleasure, Junior Exhibitor Hack, and Road Hack divisions.
