Obituary...Wilma White



Wilma J. White 69, of Greenwood, Indiana passed away on January 8, 2005. She was born August 26, 1935, in Indianapolis to Verl and Mable Noe Baker. Wilma married Donald E. "Sonny" White on February 4, 1956, in Southport and he preceded her in death on March 1, 2004. She was a graduate of Shortridge High School, Butler University Magna Cum Laude with Business BS, and Indiana University Magna Cum Laude with Business MS degree. After a career in teaching business at Southport High School, Perry Meridian High School and Indiana Central College, White served as office manager and was an integral figure at Indiana Protein Technologies, Inc. for the past eight years.

Wilma White and her daughter Donna Zimmerman enjoyed many of the same hobbies and passions especially Morgan Horses. White could always be found railside cheering on her daughter along with her many winning performers over the years including Sandcastle Spittin Image, Town Hall, Noble Etta, HRH Aladdin, Arboria Invictus, Kriskroft Choirboy and IGF Coeur Et Ame. Most recently White and Zimmerman celebrated a truly memorable 2004 season culminating with Oklahoma victories by World Champion Evolution and Grand National and Reserve World Champion Kriskroft Choirboy.

Never one to sit on the sidelines, White served as Indiana Morgan Classic President until the time of her death. Under her leadership the show has seen a resurgence in popularity with many innovative ideas and events. White's other memberships included Indianapolis Charity Horse Show Committeeperson; Greenwood Art Guild; Prospect Chapter No. 452 Order of Eastern Star; Ashwood Home Owners Association secretary; and Aircraft Owner Pilots Association. She was a licensed private pilot and real estate agent and her other interests were painting, sketching, boating and flying.

Wilma White is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Donna and Ron Zimmerman Sr., along with step grandchildren Amanda Hellman, Melissa and Ron Zimmerman Jr.; step great grandchildren Aubrey and Braxton Zimmerman; brother and sister-in-law Ralph and Jan Baker; sister-in-law Donna Seedorf; nieces Debbie Owens and Becky Schoen; nephews Nathan and Jeb Baker; and several great nieces and nephews. Memorial gifts have been suggested to Johnson County Animal Shelter, 1061 Hospital Road, Franklin, IN 46131.
