Obituary - Patricia Polis Marshall



Patricia Polis Marshall, 73, of Aspen Dr., Fairmont, WV, passed away early Sunday morning in United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, WV.

She was born August 25, 1942 in Fairmont, WV, daughter of the late Tony and Faye “Hi” Morgan Polis. Mrs. Marshall attended Janes Memorial United Methodist Church and Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in Marion County, WV. She was a graduate of East Fairmont High School in 1960, graduating from West Virginia University in 1964. She retired from MVA Fairmont Clinic as the purchasing agent, with 40 years of service. Pat earlier taught school in the Washington D.C. area and later Marion County, WV. After she and Tom moved to Marion County, both have been active in raising, boarding, and showing horses. Pat supported many family members and friends as they competed with their horses on a local and national level, including granddaughter Lexie on CH Callaway’s Forty-Niner , WCC CHPure Country , HS First Day , and daughter Melissa on The Royal Lad and Prince’s Black Tie Affair . Pat also won several West Virginia titles on her own horses.

Survivors include her husband, John T. "Tom" Marshall of Fairmont, WV (having been married 50 years), 2 daughters and their husbands; Tracie and Chris Haught of Fairmont, WV and Melissa and Dr. Robert Flint of Fairmont, WV, 3 grandchildren Morgan Joyce Ann Haught, Alexa Brook Flint, and Lane Thomas Flint all of Fairmont, WV, 2 nephews (having been raised by Pat and Tom after their mother died); Jay and his wife Jennifer Lunsford of Leesburg, VA and Tommy and his wife Kim Lunsford of Fairmont, WV, a brother and his wife; Anthony Allan and Deloris Jean “Dee” Polis of Fairmont, WV. She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Joyce Ann Lunsford.

Family and friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV from 2pm till 8pm on Tuesday and 11am till 12noon on Wednesday. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Wednesday, 9-9-2015, at 12noon, with Dr. Rev. Michael Richards and Rev. Jim Zinn officiating. In memory of Pat, memorial donations may be made to End of the Line Horse Placement, 564 Barkley Road, Harmony, PA, 16037.
